The Pelican 1690 case is constructed of light weight material that can stand up to most heavy duty of shipping and transit. The 1690 is a larger case highly recommended to protect the most valuable of equipment. On the front is a built in purge valve that allow air to move in and out freely, but not water. This makes opening the Pelican 1690 case easy to open in high altitudes. The 1690 case can be fully submerged without water penetration. Double throw latches make the 1690 case easier to open because the latch pries against itself in two motions. The Pelican 1690 case is tested to MIL C-4150J (Military Standard), IP-67 (Ingress Protection) and ATA (Air Transportation Association).
